Mos Def- Mathematics

  • Working class better keep alarm set
  • 15 % of pockets
  • 16 million on national defense, but people still leave in fear
  • you wanna learn how to rhyme, you better learn how to add
  • 1 universal law
  • 2 sides to every story
  • 6 million ways to die
  • white unemployment rate is nearly more than triple for black
  • two columns one for everyone else and one for black
This is important because Mos Def is talking about the inequality socially between blacks and whites. Also, this song is talking about a two sided universe where whites think everything is okay, though blacks are still not being treated equally.

Def Poetry Jam- Talib Kweli "Hell"
  • "couldn't see the difference in the Baptist and the Catholic Church"
  • "If I don't look like my father the way I live is bastardly"
  • "I found that heaven and hell exist right here on earth, word"
Similar to Mos Def, Talib Kweli is focusing on a double sided universe in which theres horrors and evils and also happiness.

Lauryn Hill-Motives and Thoughts
  • "Social delusion, clearly constructed"
  • "Devil's technology, strategy for Human mythologies"
  • "When the blind lead the blind, just more trouble and woes"
  • "Moral dilemma, pride at the root"
  • "Misguided from youth, heart divided from truth"
  • "Motives and thoughts, check your motives and thoughts"
Lauryn  Hill is trying to show people that many people have ulterior motives and thoughts aside from the truth which we must stop in our youth. This is because pride is at the root.

2Pac- Changes
  • "Cops give a damn about a negro? Pul the trigger, kill a nigga, he's a hero
  • "Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares? One less hungry mouth on welfare"
  • "We gotta make a change..."
  • "Lets change the way we eat, lets change the way we live."
2Pac is saying through his song "Changes" that we must let go of prejudice in order to change all over our countries' lives for the better. Instead of eliminating our population, we must bring all people up from bad situations in order to "change the way we live."

N.W.A. - Express Yourself
  • "I'm expressing with my full capabilities"
  • "But making a sucker and you equal, don't be another sequel'
  • "Express yourself" "Come on and do it"
  • "But you know it ain't all about wealth as long as you make a note to..."
  • "From the heat cause if you want to move up the chart Then expression is big part o fit."
N.W.A. is portraying that equality isn't rights if each equal person isn't expressing themselves personally to their fullest capabilities.
