poem 2

lake placid: 1980’s olympic rink                                                                       Marley Buckley

1980s olympics,
there were no limits.

The russians were buff,
but the Americans were tough.

The big arena,
as wondrous as Athena.

You hear thousands of fans,
in the stands.

The gleaming lights,
are so bright.

You could feel the tension in the air,
the Russians were doing a prayer.

The Americans in red white and blue,
u could tell their dreams were going to come true.

Cutting the ice with their sharp blades,
in all different kind of shades.

They are as fast as lightning,
it was a little frightening.

Both teams tried harder than the other,
but it did not end in a smother.
Dreams come true for america.

It was a fight,
they won by just a slight.

Like fire and ice,
a miracle on ice.
