Women are more than just a piece of ass,
More than just a piece of property.
Since we came into the world kicking and screaming,
We have been force fed the idea of achieving ultimate beauty.
Fat ass, big boobs and thigh gap,
Making someone feel worthless if they weren’t born with all three.
Women spending millions of dollars on surgery,
In order to obtain unreachable measurements,
Putting their health and bank accounts in terrible conditions.
Friend turning on friend, sister turning on sister,
The battle for ultimate beauty and the perfect picture is never ending.
Why does society do this to our gender?
This world is a man’s world.
When men make a dollar, women make seventy-seven cents,
So they should make the rules right?
False, each and every woman’s body is THEIR body,
And they will decide what is beautiful
And they will choose how they will dress,
And they will choose what makes them feel sexy.
If only that was how the real world was,
But that day is hopefully in the future.
Sadly we are left in the present,
Where the norm is defining a person just by the way they look,
Then turning us against each other in order to be wanted by the almighty male.
The media is creating images that young girls are dying to be
Starving themselves on crazy diets,
Being taught ned by signs repeatedly informing that, yes, bikini season is coming,
And if all else fails, simply not eating all.
The most searched thing on my Google tab is “how to get skinny FAST!”,
And I don’t want to live this way anymore.
When I stand in a picture with my twiggy friends,
I shouldn’t have to feel bigger,
Simply because I don’t have a flat stomach.
I shouldn’t have to be limited with my fashion choices,
In order to prevent people thinking that I’m dressing provocatively,
Just because my cleavage is showing.
I am the way I am,
And if my dumped thinks that it’s okay to break-up,
Simply because, “She’s fat.”, then you’ll never understand,
There is just more of me to love.
At the end of the day is it something really worth dying over?
Never.
Never let yourself think for a second that you need to,
Lose weight,
Or stuff your bra,
Or starve yourself.
We are all dazzling, like the stars in the sky,
And I’m sorry society, but we won’t be your milkshakes.
Scottie,
ReplyDeleteWow, this was very powerful and true. I am appreciative you wrote this because we need to stop being a misogynistic society and value the importance of women. I agree with your last line, "And I'm sorry society, but we won't be your milkshakes." Well done!
